Men’s Ministry

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”

– 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Why Men’s Ministry

Man was created in the image of God. The image was wise, strong, humble, and loving. Then sin entered the world and damaged this perfect image. Thankfully, Jesus came to restore man’s image to what it was first created in and intended for.

At For His Glory Community Church, we desire for each of our men to live out the calling of biblical manhood. This calling includes:

  • Leading our families through discipleship of our wives and children, prayer, stewarding our finances and demonstrating a radical life for the gospel;
  • Leading in our workplaces by working hard as unto the Lord and imaging Christ as His ambassadors in all we do and;
  • Leading in our church through sacrificial service, discipleship of others and ministry involvement.

Focus: Christ-centered community of men

The primary focus of our men’s ministry will be to look to Christ as the model for manhood. There are many well-known and well-respected men in this world, but only Christ models the perfect man, so settling for anything less is denying the call God has for us. Our strength, our humility, our knowledge, and our success come from Him alone.

Men are encouraged to build one another up in Christ through group study and one on one discipleship.

Focus: Theologically rich and infused with prayer

FHG desires each man to be well-rooted in the study of God. This comes through reading the Bible and regularly praying. The Apostle Paul said that his message wasn’t his own, but that of the Spirit and power of God (2 Cor 2:1-5) in order that their focus would be on Christ alone. We know this is our only hope for biblical manhood. We read the Word of God to grow in wisdom and pray to God to be filled with the power of the Spirit. Our men should desire nothing greater.

In addition to studying the Bible and praying, from time to time we may utilize additional trusted resources to grow in our faith and roles as men.

Focus: Missionally engaged

While many immediately think of an international context when speaking of missions, this isn’t the only opportunity God gives us to be on mission. At FHG, we desire each of our men to be engaged in their local neighborhoods, workplaces, and anywhere else they may have an opportunity in hopes of furthering the gospel.

Practically this plays out in local service projects and one day outreach opportunities as well as international trips with the larger body of the church.
