Put Your Hand in the Hand of God

Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You hold my right hand. Psalms 73:23.
I drink in these words, because they are not words merely to be read but to be taken in – not to become knowledge but to become part of the very fiber of my being, my existence. The depth and breadth and width of God’s love will never cease to amaze me. God is present in every minute of every day, and I am not alone. He holds my right hand – He does that so I can’t let go!
But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped. Psalm 73:2
Believe me there have been times when I pulled my hand away, but time and time again, He has proven that without Him there is no hope, no peace, no truth. I humbly lift my arms up in surrender, letting Him carry me through once again.
My flesh and my heart may fail me but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26.
What more do I need? He provides everything. He has blessed me with people in my life whom I love dearly, and He has also restored those relationships I threw away. Jesus has my future in His hands; my responsibility is to simply trust Him. He has never let me down nor has He ever broken His promises.
Television commercials promise items that I must have in order to fit into a world where money and possessions have become an idols, where beauty and youth comes from a jar. But these are empty promises that cannot be fulfilled by any product on the market. We live in a world where we are measured by our possessions, a world that has rejected God and is full of confusion and chaos. What the world has to offer is a cheap imitation compared to what the Lord has promised us, peace not only in our future but here and now, strength in our weakness and acceptance, just the way we are.
Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. Psalm 73:25.
Put your hand in the hand of God, so your steps will be sure and steady. Find comfort in knowing you are His, and He loves you. Set aside sin, fear and self-righteousness; put on the grace of God in Christ, which you cannot earn. Drink in the forgiveness of God that only He can give and live in the love of God that none can take. Believe God’s truth; don’t doubt that one day we will be with Him in glory!
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Psalm 73:24.
I want to share an old song that was popular when I was a teenager. Many of you may never have heard it, but the words reminded me so well of how wonderful it is to be in the hands of God.
Put Your Hand In The Hand
Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently
By puttin’ your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee
Every time I look into the Holy Book I want to tremble (tremble)
Or when I read about the part where the carpenter cleared the temple (temple)
For the buyers and the sellers were no different fellas than what I profess to be
And it causes me shame to know we’re not the people we should be
So, put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently
By puttin’ your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee
