For I Know that My Redeemer Lives

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know that in my flesh I shall see God. Job 19:25-26.
I get goose pimples when I read these words. This assurance is one of the many I hold closest to my heart. I think of Job, the man who spoke these words. He’d lost everything. EVERYTHING. Children: dead. Riches: gone. Health: painful boils all over his body. Only his life was spared and that of his wife who, in bitterness over their losses, tells him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die” (Job 2:9).
And yet he held onto the LORD despite his less than comforting friends. How would I react in his place? “Whaaaaa!” comes to mind. Self-pity comes to mind, playing the blame game. But not Job. Though he complained, he never lost sight of his Creator. Though his body shook with fatigue, he had a unique perspective, and no matter what, his faith in God was not shaken.
And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Job 1:21.
Maybe I haven’t had trials like Job, but I’ve known trials, as I’m sure many of you have. It is in the assurances that GOD gives us in His Word that we endure. It is His strength we need and not our own. Job had no strength to give. It is the counsel of God’s Word and not always in the advice of friends that we gain wisdom. It is in the blessing of simply believing our Creator GOD, our Redeemer and Healer that we find peace and joy for every occasion in our lives.
So hang on, hang in, look up, don’t doubt – He is there, He has a plan and He loves you!
So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning:
Job 42:12A.
